The purpose of the position is to ensure a high academic standard in the research and teaching of maritime cybersecurity at Tallinn University of Technology, with a focus on interdisciplinarity, collaboration, publication, modern methods, and securing funding. The tenured post is leading an existing research group in maritime cybersecurity.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- to lead a research group and supervise their research;
- to ensure continuity of know-how related to the speciality at TalTech and in Estonia;
- to lay the foundation for science-based teaching, research and development and the development of innovative solutions in the field of maritime cybersecurity;
- to improve the quality of research and development in the field and interdisciplinarity with other research directions and institutions and thereby contribute to the improvement of the technological and knowledge intensity of Estonian maritime-related society, economy and industry;
- to participate in the work of international research organisations, journals and research councils;
- to maintain existing partnerships and expand the existing research network and to make sure that international cooperation is carried out;
- to conduct science-based teaching in all three levels of studies;
- to supervise professional higher education, master’s, doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers in accordance with the field of research.
THE POTENTIAL RESEARCH DIRECTIONS INCLUDE:
- Cyber Attack Detection and Monitoring: Developing new tools and methods for detecting and monitoring cyber attacks in maritime systems.
- Risk Analysis and Assessment: Developing and applying cybersecurity risk analysis techniques to assess vulnerabilities and potential attack scenarios in maritime systems.
- Regulatory Framework: Research focused on developing and improving the regulatory framework for maritime cybersecurity.
- Autonomous Ships: Developing and implementing cybersecurity measures for autonomous ships and their control systems.
- Data Security and Privacy: Utilizing big data and artificial intelligence in maritime cybersecurity, with a focus on data security and privacy.
- Cyber Threat Simulations: Using simulations and penetration testing to evaluate and improve the cybersecurity of maritime systems.

The TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy offers basic gross salary to a successful candidate starting from 48,000 € per year, with high growth potential in case of successful research funding.
