Tallinn University announces competition for a position of Tenure Track Associate Professor (the position of Tenure System career level I).

Work assignments

The teaching and research areas of the Professor of Wellbeing and Health Behaviour are the science of well-being, health behaviour, sustainable health behaviour, as well as interdisciplinary teaching of biological and behavioural science topics. It is to strengthen the school’s existing research, teaching, and impact activities within the interdisciplinary context of wellbeing and sustainable health. 


  • Teaching activities involve creating curriculum for, teaching, and supervising Psychology MA, Psychology PhD, PhD in Health Behaviour and Wellbeing and MA in Wellbeing and Health Behaviour programs, and include offering guidance to doctoral students.
  • In addition to teaching and research, the professor will be responsible for the implementation of health and wellness science curricula and for promoting the field, with a focus on the promotion of health and sustainable lifestyles (topics), and for coordination of activities in the school of Natural Sciences and Health.
  • The role will contribute to LTI activities with participating in interdisciplinary research projects and leading and managing research projects in LTI. The professor will contribute to the university’s mission by apply for, researching, and implementing interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with other TLÜ institutions, (as well as in cooperation with the private sector). 
  • The professor is expected to collaborate and build connections in the areas of wellness, behavioural sciences and sustainable health behaviour with academic counterparts (and competence centres) and universities both in Estonia and abroad.

Education

PhD in psychology, behavioural sciences, or in health sciences.

Work experience

  • The candidate must have high quality publications and have research projects in the areas of wellness sciences and health behaviour.
  • The professor needs to be proficient in methods of conducting empirical and experimental research, and competent with quantitative data analysis methods and interpreting data analysis.
  • The candidate must have sufficient teaching and leadership experience in Wellness Sciences and Health Behaviour at the Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral levels; must have the ability to work together with other LTI Nature and Behavioural Sciences fields.
  • Candidates are expected to have the skills and be keen to participate fully in LTI, TLÜ and non-university academic and administrative decision-making bodies and committees.
  • Curriculum, research and application project management is expected in the wellness sciences and health behaviour fields, therefore the preferred qualifications include leadership skills to tackle these tasks.

Candidate must meet the requirements for the post of Tenure Track Associate Professor (Tenure System career level I) set out in Annex 2, 9 and 10 in the TLU Employment Regulations Rules.


The Estonian language skill is necessary for conducting studies for the students of the area and for developing and using the Estonian terminology of the area. The professor bears responsibility and works primarily in the fulfilment of Estonian language based study programmes in accordance with the contract under public law concluded between the MoER and TU (for training science teachers for Estonian schools). Proficiency in the Estonian language should be obtained within 3 years.
