The aim of the professorship is to enhance the quality of teaching and research, foster international and domestic cooperation in R&D, and contribute to research and development projects in the field of microeconomics.


An important role of the professorship is the ability to apply for competitive funding and participate in international R&D networks. The goal of the professorship is to contribute to the development of teaching and learning at all levels of higher education and to be visible both in the research landscape and in contributing to societal development. In alignment with the general aspirations of TalTech, the professor is expected to put some focus on digitalization and green transformation.


Tasks:


  • Scientific and research activities in one's field, its organization, and management of scientific topics.
  • Developing cooperation with other research and development institutions and companies.
  • Organizing the development of the necessary material base for research and development activities in the field of microeconomics.
  • Balanced scope of professional education, research, and development activities in the field of microeconomics, in accordance with the regulation on Academic Career Management.
  • Supervising doctoral students, master's students, and bachelor's students in conducting independent research.
  • Publishing the results of scientific and research activities; working as an expert in one's field.
  • Conducting teaching (at the bachelor’s, focused master’s, and doctoral levels) and curriculum development activities at a modern methodological and educational technology level in the field of microeconomics.
  • Organizing academic education and curriculum development activities and being responsible for their quality in one's field.
  • Expected directions for scientific and research work: education economics, labor economics, public sector economics, and applied microeconomics.


Accompanying tasks: participation in national and international professional decision-making bodies and committees; cooperation with scientific journal editorial boards, peer review of scientific articles; popularization of one's field and scientific domain; coordination of professional continuing education.


The position is fixed term, up to eight years from taking up the position.

Doctoral degree

Work experience

  • A doctoral degree in economics or an equivalent qualification, doctoral degree defended no later than 10 years ago from the expected time of taking up the position.
  • The number of scientific publications in the amount of at least two doctoral theses, the level of citations is characterised by the h-index ≥ 6.
  • Prior experience in applying for and obtaining competitive funding/contracts.
  • Has completed postdoctoral studies and/or has professional experience in another organisation outside Tallinn University of Technology, preferably in an international research environment.
  • Participation in the activities of networks of professional or scientific organisations.
  • Professional activity at events of scientific or other organisations.


Previous experience in teaching and supervising at different levels of higher education supports taking up the position.
