CONTEXT OF THE PROJECT


Applications are invited to fill the position of postdoctoral researcher focusing on life cycle assessment of chemical and energy technologies and their integration, including district heating and cooling, carbon capture technologies, fuel refinement technologies, solar and wind energy systems, thermal energy storage technologies, energy storage, nuclear energy and future energy carriers such as e fuels, hydrogen, etc. The PostDoc will be involved in the projects conducted by all three research groups of the Department of Energy Technology.


We are looking for a motivated candidate to join the project aimed to investigate application of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) approach for integration of modern energy and chemical technologies.


Content of work:


  • Carry out research and studies related to LCA method application for energy and chemical technologies.
  • Preparation of scientific reports and studies.
  • Publication of results in high-ranking good journals and scientific conferences.
  • Supervision of graduate and PhD students.
  • Conducting lectures related to the Department's teaching portfolio.
  • Preparing applications for funding projects.
  • Participation in the ongoing projects of the Department.


The postdoctoral researcher participates in the research and development work 70-80% of the working time, and in teaching and other department´s activities 20-30% of the working time.

PhD degree

Work experience

  • A recent (0-5 years) PhD degree in the field of energy technology, chemical technology, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, ecology.
  • Highly experienced and proficiency in LCA software's based research and development projects (e.g. openLCA, SimaPro).
  • Published papers/thesis/report where LCA methodology is applied.
  • Track record of publications in good quality international journals.
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as independently.
  • Excellent communication & scientific writing skills.
  • Fluent oral and written English.


The qualification of the postdoctoral researcher must meet the requirements of the Academic Career Management of Tallinn University of Technology.

Company/organization offers

  • A monthly salary up to 3500 EUR (gross salary), depending on the qualification and experience of the candidate.
