Job description


The goal of the position is to organize and conduct teaching at various levels of higher education in the field of spatial design and to direct cross-disciplinary cooperation. Conduct and organize research and development activities.


Tasks:


  • balanced professional teaching, research and development activities in the field of spatial design in accordance with the Regulation on Academic Career Management;
  • supervising doctoral and master's students in conducting independent research;
  • teaching in the subjects of History of Architecture, Estonian Built Heritage and Restoration preparatory work and conducting educational development activities at a modern methodological and educational technological level at different levels of higher education in the field of spatial design;
  • organizing academic teaching and educational development activities and being responsible for this level in one's specialty;
  • research and development activities in one's specialty and organizing it, participating in the work of the Built Environment Research Group;
  • developing cooperation with other research and development institutions and companies;
  • publishing the results of research and development activities; working as an expert in one's specialty;
  • expected directions of research and development work: spatial design, reuse of materials in the built environment.


Accompanying tasks: participating in the work of national and international professional decision-making bodies and committees; cooperation with editorial boards of scientific journals, reviewing scientific articles; popularizing the field of study and research in one's specialty, including publishing opinion or popular science articles; coordinating professional continuing education.

Professional experience

The following is required:

  • doctoral degree in a research field related to the field of activity;
  • scientific publications in the amount of at least two doctoral theses, h-index ≥6;
  • previous experience in applying for funding or in fulfilling a project or contract;
  • at least one supervised doctoral thesis and 1500 hours of effectively supervised I and II level theses in total;
  • at least 10 years of teaching experience at various levels of higher education, author or compiler-editor of a university textbook or equivalent teaching tool, having been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award in the last 5 years (or an equivalent assessment of the quality of teaching) and having completed at least 24 ECTS in pedagogical education;
  • conducting I and II level studies in Estonian;
  • participation in the activities of international professional or research organizations and networks (including entrepreneurship) or participation in working groups that influence the development of the university or holding leading positions at the university;
  • publishing opinion or popular science articles, being an active and well-known speaker in their field, conducting continuing education, external recognitions in the fields of science, education, culture and innovation or being an invited speaker at events of scientific or other organizations;
  • language skills required for work: Estonian and English at an advanced level.
